About this home
Formerly a “Gig” house – a building for storing a horse and cart – Jollyboat Cottage is cosy and comfortable and makes an ideal year-round holiday rental for a couple.
The ground floor has an open-plan, well-equipped kitchen/ dining and sitting room with a Smart television and sit-up island dining for two.
The galleried first floor is accessed by a wooden staircase and has a bedroom in the eaves with a double bed and afternoon/ early evening sun, and there is a separate shower room.
Whilst there is no permanent outdoor space at the cottage, there are two folding chairs under the stairs which can be set up outside the front door for an early morning coffee or late afternoon beverage as the High Street, in the distance, bustles by.
Jollyboat Cottage is superbly located to discover this wonderful area of North Norfolk.
Within minutes from the cottage you are at Blakeney National Nature Reserve and Blakeney Point, home to England’s largest grey seal colony and a multitude of wildlife.
The village of Blakeney itself is labyrinth of characterful fishermen’s (and gig!) cottages, narrow streets and a picturesque harbour thronging with families ‘gillying’ for crabs, sailors, birders, walkers and artists – not to mention those sitting in harmony overseeing it all with a coffee and delicious pastry in hand from the veranda of the Two Magpies Bakery!
